If there’s one thing you can count on for each and every year, it is some of the most memorable sights of festival season.
And this year was no different, as around flocked to Worthy Farm for an epic weekend of live music with headline acts including Sir , , and .
The five-day festival was packed full of moments attendees and those watching from home are sure to remember from years to come, such as , or thousands of fans helping as he .
And that’s without even touching on that has been billed as his final UK appearance.
Another staple at Glastonbury that raises smiles all round are the flags seen flying during sets across the weekend – ideal for finding your pals in a packed crowd.
Once again, this year’s Glasto did not disappoint with a number of weird and wonderful offerings seen flying in the wind throughout the festival.
Here, in no particular order, and the top flag-spotting sights from across Glastonbury 2023.
King Charles’ ‘sausage fingers’
Flying high at Worthy Farm was a flag displaying none other than, erm, .
Waving proudly next to a flag for Carly Rae Jepsen, of course, the flag in question displayed a close-up of the monarch’s swollen hands, which are frequently a hot topic on .
A tribute to renowned CBBC character Hacker
You can barely scroll through Twitter for a few minutes without seeing ‘we’re just normal men,’ or ‘we’re just innocent men.’
And it seems the same is true when frequenting Glasto, with this flag and others spotted swaying in the breeze referencing the viral blooper between CBBC presenter Lauren Layfield and puppet Hacker T. Dog.
Kat Slater being a bit of a flag
viewers were pleasantly surprised to see make a shock appearance at the festival.
Eagle-eyed fans spotted the flag that featured character Kat as she informed a nun – played by June Whitfield – of the inner workings of her love life.
This sad, little flag
Another iconic TV moment was brought to the forefront of our minds – as if it ever left – through another fabulous Glastonbury flag.
Just like Kat Slater’s epic monologue, this piece of art captured a snippet of Come Dine With Me contestant after finding out he had come in fourth place on the show.
And another Come Dine With Me icon
Come Dine With Me and Glastonbury collided once more with another flag paying homage to another renowned contestant.
This time, it was the turn or ‘whisk guy,’ aka Kev Riley, as it was time for an image of him with a whisk fully in his open mouth to fly high above the festival crowd.
Rishi Sunak as just Ken
Now that the excitement of Glastonbury 2023 becomes a memory, we gear up for the next major cultural event of the year – and that’s the release of .
Move over Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, in this festival flag, we get a somewhat horrifying glimpse of what the film could have been like with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as our leading man.
The real heroes in a half shell
Staying in the world of politics, this flag also had Glastonbury goers giggling when they spotted it.
It of course references Suella Braverman’s bizarre rant, in which she blasted ‘the Guardian-reading, tofu-eating wokerati.’ As you do.
What we’re sure many Glastonbury fans will want after the long weekend
Anyone who has watched the beloved BBC show Gavin & Stacey will know Smithy’s huge Indian takeaway order – chicken bhuna, lamb bhuna and prawn bhuna, mushroom rice, a bag of chips, keema naan and nine poppadoms.
If they didn’t, they do now after seeing this strange flag.
An iconic TV show making a comeback
Love them or hate them, there is no song musical TV show Glee wouldn’t attempt – from Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ to a bizarre mash-up of Michael Jackson’s Thriller and Heads Will Roll by Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
And this Glastonbury goer is clearly calling for more unhinged Glee offerings in 2023 – stranger things have happened, after all.
And Glee isn’t the only one, with this flag paying tribute to a real Succession legend
This year, fans of said goodbye to the Roy family as the hit US drama left our screens.
However, it wasn’t the last we had seen of Jeremy Strong’s popular character Kendall as we can see in this comedic flag referencing a popular track from headliner Sir Elton.
This well-known Mahatma Gandi quote
Glastonbury features lots of wellness stalls and live events across the weekend, so it stands to reason you will see and hear plenty of motivational quotes across the weekend.
One such, er, profound speech can be seen on this flag – though we’re pretty sure it comes from a Bobby Shmurda song, not Mahatma Gandhi.
Another favourite Royal Family snap
It wasn’t just King Charles III making Glasto crowds smile this year, with Prince Louis also garnering a fair bit of attention.
A famed image of the youngster clutching his ears during the Trooping Of The Colour could be seen at this year’s festival – an image of which may have been a familiar sight to campers trying to get a good night’s rest while the party continued outside their tents.
And a warning about the dangers of Dementors
Last, but not least, we have this amazing flag that featured one of many amazing scenes from The Office US.
On it, we see Steve Carrell as Prison Mike, one of the beloved character’s many comedic moments which saw the Dunder Mifflin boss take on a convict persona.
