The may not have suggested ‘’ these past few months, but the good times.
There’s a litany of fun events still on the calendar before it’s time to crack out the winter woollies, and Reading and Leeds festivals are often regarded as some of the best music festivals in the UK.
The two festivals boast the same headline acts, giving fans twice the opportunity to watch their favourite artists, with Reading taking place on Richfield Avenue, August 21-25, and Bramaham Park in Leeds from August 22-25.
While the question may remain ‘are you team ?’ the sentiment is that the iconic festivals are a mainstay of the UK music scene.
So you now know the basics – the who, what, where and when – but there are some very important details every festival goer needs to get clued up on before they hit the grounds.
Reading and Leeds 2024 have banned disposable vapes
Festival organisers announced that this year’s festivals will see disposable vapes banned from the grounds.
It’s long been established these types of products are hazardous at waste centres while also not being environmentally friendly.
Don’t think you can try your luck and sneak one in. Festival organisers have warned those attending may be subject to more enhanced searches of bags and personal belongings.
Be festival-friendly with Nordic Spirit
Smoke-free and smell-free, Nordic Spirit nicotine pouches* capture the spirit of the Nordics at work or on the go. The pouches are completely tobacco-free, and, for those heading to Reading or Leeds, vape-free.
The pouches are used in a similar way to traditional snus – the key difference is that snus contains tobacco, while Nordic Spirit nicotine pouches are 100% tobacco-free.
Made of a blend of nicotine, flavourings, a small amount of gum as a base and plant-based fibres, the new Nordic Spirit range offers a more instant flavour release that lasts up to 30 minutes. They’re used by placing the pouch between the gum and upper or lower lip, as a choice for nicotine users who are seeking an alternative to cigarettes or vaping, and can be used indoors, outdoors, in public spaces and on the move.
You can use a pouch for up to 30 minutes and when you’re done, dispose of it in the general waste or store it in the top of the can it came in, which is recyclable and is often accepted by local authorities in household recycling. (Just remember to remove any used pouches first!)

Feeling overwhelmed? There is a dedicated space for some peace
For the first time, Reading and Leeds have created the Sensory Calm Space, which can be used by anyone who may be feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated by everything happening on the weekend. Because we can understand festivals can be a lot!
The festivals have also introduced Quiet Camp for those of you who love sleep and want to make sure you’re getting enough shut-eye and a break from the go-go-go party atmosphere. Quiet Camp is a dedicated area in the standard campsites, but you must have booked your free spot in advance alongside your Weekend or Weekend + Early Entry festival ticket.
To really take steps to make sure people are comfortable, there is also an additional campsite, Solo Camp, designed for those going by themselves.
There’s a bigger focus on being eco-friendly
Each year festivals are taking more and more steps to be more sustainable and eco-conscious and this message is now being passed down to festival-goers.
This year organisers have asked those attending to think about leaving the wet wipes at home and instead opt for reusable options such as cotton wipes or flannels, as well as ditching plastic bottles of soap and body wash and bringing bars of soap for your showers instead. Every little bit helps!
You won’t be able to take a big bag everywhere
While campfires and disposable BBQs won’t be allowed on site in 2024, people may not also realise there will be rules on what bags you can bring into the arena, with people limited to one A4 sized bag per person.
So think about packing smarter and don’t risk missing your favourite artist’s set by trying to bring a full pack into the arena area.
Know where to set up camp
We all know festival prep means breaking in your comfiest pair of trainers or walking boots and prepare to walk…a lot!
However, for the uninitiated, it’s not too late to plan to set up your tent in areas that’ll help minimise trips to and from the car or tantrums walking from the public transport entrances.
If you are driving to Reading, the Eco camp White Camp is the one closest to the weekend car park, and for those travelling by public transport, Eco camp Green Camp is closest to Public Transport drop off locations.
The Green Gate (0.2km) is best for pedestrians or boat passengers from the Green Car Park, while entrance via Red Gate (0.4km) is best for pedestrians or shuttle bus, coach, train, taxi, or Pick Up Drop Off passengers.
Festival smarter, not harder!
