70s rock legend, , has pulled out of Festival as he said a BBC partnership was to blame.

Rumours have already begun swirling about which acts will be included in the .

It was announced in November that Sir  will be taking the iconic Sunday afternoon legend slot in a historic move.

The 79-year-old star is ‘proud’ to return to perform on the Pyramid Stage, 22 years after .

While other acts have yet to be confirmed, 79-year-old Canadian-American singer Neil has confirmed that has pulled out of any involvement.

The rock star took to his website to reveal that after being asked to do things in a certain way, they were no longer interested in performing at Worthy Farm.

‘The Chrome Hearts and I were looking forward to playing Glastonbury, one of my all-time favorite outdoor gigs. We were told that was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in,’ he said in a .

‘It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being. Thanks for coming to see us the last time!

‘We will not be playing Glastonbury on this tour because it is a corporate turn-off, and not for me like it used to be. Hope to see you at one of the other venues on the tour,’ the open letter concluded.

The BBC has been partnered with the festival since 1997 and Emily Eavis who runs the festival has said that the partnership is ‘an integral part of what we do at Glastonbury.’

As the 2025 line-up has not yet been announced, Young’s involvement in the festival has not been confirmed.

In 2009 the singer headlined the festival, with a two-hour set featuring his major chart toppers. Bruce Springsteen and Blur were also the other headline acts that year.

After his performance was shown on TV, the BBC received complaints from fans after only showing a shortened version of his performance.

The BBC responded then by saying: ‘The BBC has spent the last couple of months talking to Neil’s management about how much of his set we might be able to show on TV, radio and online over the Glastonbury weekend.

‘Neil Young’s career has been conducted on his own terms. Neil’s management agreed to let TV and radio broadcast five songs as they watched and listened to his performance. They believe in the live event and retaining its mystery and that of their artist.’

The singer was also set to perform at the festival in 1997 but was forced to pull out because of an injury. ‘I’d have eaten the thing in one piece if I’d known that cutting it in half would jeopardise the tour. It’s macaroni and cheese from now on,’ he joked at the time.

The 2025 festival will take place from June 25-29 and tickets have already sold out for this highly sought-after event.
