A star of one of Britain’s best loved property TV shows has revealed that one episode had to stop filming thanks to an epic blunder on set.
, who presents , said the incident was so bad that production on the episode had to go on pause for an entire day.
The long-time host, , has become a real fan-favourite, showing couples around luxurious overseas homes all over the world.
But while presenting an episode in the US state of , Laura and her colleagues caused production to be shut down for 24 hours after an embarrassing faux pas.
Years later, she’s now revealed what happened: ‘There was once an episode that I did where, unfortunately, the keys for the property got locked inside the property, and we couldn’t film it.’
She told : ‘That was a bit of a disaster. It was in Florida, but that was so many years ago. So we had to call a wrap on that and then show them the property the next day, which wasn’t obviously ideal.’
Despite describing it as ‘just one of those things’ these days, she still looks back on that day with a red face, saying she’s had the same incident happen in her family a few times.
‘It was kind of like, “Who’s got the keys? Oh, God”. You know, imagine that thing that kind of happens at home. Who’s got the keys? Who’s got the keys?’
After a few minutes of searching, and with the door now firmly locked, Laura and her A Place in the Sun colleagues realised what had just happened.
The episode was eventually broadcast in early 2016, with production in the busy city of Orlando thankfully able to get back up 24 hours later.
In the final product, married couple Lynn and Dave Parker were trying to decide whether they should buy a house for their daughter Aimee, which would double as a holiday home for the whole family.
Laura’s recent revelation comes just weeks after she expressed her disgust about to con fans out of money.
The beloved presenter died in February 2024 having been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer two years earlier in 2022.
Laura told : ‘After I raised £5k and ran a marathon there were people saying, “Do you know there are people setting up scam pages saying, I’m still fundraising for the marathon”? and still trying to get donations.
‘I had an official Just Giving page and then there are scammers that are sucking people in saying, “Oh yeah, we’re still trying to fundraise” and that is so terrible.’
