The latest financial results from Activision remain coy about the next Call Of Duty, but do confirm a PC release for Diablo: Immortal.
A proper reveal for 2022’s premium Call Of Duty game (all but officially confirmed to be ) feels like it’s on the horizon. For the time being, Activision is saying nothing, but it has mentioned it in its most recent financial results.
It obviously doesn’t give away too much, with Activision reiterating that it’s a follow-up to the game. However, it also describes it as ‘the most advanced experience in franchise history.’
What Activision actually means by this is a mystery, but it at least suggests that it has greater aspirations than simply releasing just another Call Of Duty that can be integrated with Call Of Duty: Warzone.
Speaking of Warzone, in case anyone still had doubts that the upcoming won’t be a simple update to the battle royale, Activision explicitly says that it’s being built from the ground up and will also feature ‘groundbreaking innovations.’
Development on both is progressing well although, while Warzone 2 will be revealed this year there’s no word if it will release alongside Modern Warfare 2.
There’s clearly a lot of pressure on this year’s new games, as and player engagement with the current Warzone has also dropped.
As for Blizzard, the company has finally shared a release date for its free-to-play online multiplayer role-playing game . After being announced to a less than enthusiastic crowd in 2018, it’s scheduled to launch on June 2 this year.
Initially slated as a mobile exclusive, Diablo Immortal is now set to come to PC as well. An open beta for the PC version will be available on the same day and, aside from including everything in the mobile version, will offer cross-play and cross-progression.
Unsurprisingly, make no allusion to the that has plagued Activision since last summer or the filed against it last month.
