Most of us have sent a text message to the wrong person at least once, making for a seriously awkward moment.

Well, Adam Hills had a real-life version of that, when he bumped into Prime Minister – shortly after putting him on blast on TV.

host, 52, opened Friday’s show by recalling his outing to the Ashes last week.

Now, everything was going swimmingly, until Adam realised the seating arrangement.

Adam began the story by saying: ‘Loads to get through this week but before we do, I had a very awkward moment last weekend.

‘So, I was invited to the Ashes. I was there as a member of the Lords Taveners, because I support a lot of the work they do for disability cricket programmes.’

Thankfully, he didn’t have a conversation with the politician (Picture: PA)

Making viewers cringe, he went on: ‘Bearing in mind the Ashes, I had described the previous week in politics as “Rishi’s s**t show”, imagine my surprise when, half an hour into play, Rishi Sunak came and sat in the row in front of me!’

The studio audience immediately burst into laughter as images appeared of the outspoken TV star and politician sitting just inches away from each other.

Co-star Josh Widdicombe then joked that the pictures made it look like Adam was Rishi’s ‘minder’ at weekends.

The Aussie star then assured he did not talk to the PM, adding: ‘It was so weird because he walked in and sat down and I was like… oh God. Oh Jesus.

‘The only way I can describe it is to say, have you ever bumped into someone in real life the day after you’ve slagged them off on live TV?’

Comedian Alex Brooker then quipped: ‘Yeah, I do it with my kids all the time!’

‘Because that’s exactly what it was like!’, an embarrassed Adam said.

The host said he would’ve liked to have talked to the PM, but it felt too ‘weird’.

‘It was like, does he watch the show, does he not? I don’t want to walk up and tell him what I do and then he’s like, “I don’t give a s**t”.’

As blunt as ever, Alex then told him: ‘No, you just walk over and say, “I slag you off for a living!”‘

Oh how we’d have loved to have been a fly on the wall if that interaction had happened!

Of course, this was far from the first time Adam got himself into a scrape with his gags on The Last Leg.

Most recently, he had viewers on edge after

In the past, he’s also been forced to issue apologies, like when the show made as the football tournament was held in Qatar, a place where LGBTQ+ rights are practically nonexistent.

The show received immense backlash for what they intended to be a ‘protest’ tune, however many said it was in ‘very poor taste’ with lyrics such as: ‘But if in Qatar Alan Carr toured and was joined by Boy George and then even RuPaul, they could end up three heads on a spike.’

Responding to the criticism, Adam said he was ‘sorry’.

The Last Leg airs Fridays at 10pm on Channel 4 and All4.
