Singer Mahalia has spoken out about being part of ’s big homecoming shows in ’s Hyde Park last month, revealing the headliner was ‘definitely nervous’ to get back on stage.

Mahalia, 24, went back out on tour earlier this year, and just weeks later, got the chance to perform with Adele at back in July.

The two dates marked Adele’s first ticketed shows in more than five years, with an all-female billing on-hand to support her before her big return.

It also came after she cancelled her string of Las Vegas shows last-minute, .

Mahalia, who was amongst the stellar line-up at BST, has spoken out on what it was like to get to work with one of her musical heroes, who she has loved since she was ‘a kid.’

While she didn’t get to meet Adele herself, she shared with how ‘nervous’ the star was for her live UK comeback.

Mahalia said: ‘She was definitely nervous, she made that quite clear on stage.

‘I think even just being in the same space as her was kind of enough for me! Getting to watch an Adele show live, I feel like she throws out loads of nuggets anyway to the crowd.

‘Even though didn’t actually get to give her a hug or shake her hand or say hi, I felt very close to her just for the fact that I was there.’

She went on to add: ‘I’m sure she was nervous, and also scared – there were so many people!

‘When I finally got out to watch, I was absolutely shocked. I wouldn’t even know what to do if I was looking at that many people.’

Mahalia revealed Adele’s first album, titled 19, was the first she’d ever bought and explained how the Hello singer was ‘one of the reasons’ she wanted to write music.

On being asked to support her on tour, she added: ‘To be asked to do it, to know that she hadn’t picked everybody I think was pretty mental.

‘It kind of it felt a little bit. I definitely felt a little bit out of body for the whole two days!’

Mahalia went on to address when fans would get to finally listen to her upcoming album, which was originally scheduled for release this year.

However, it seems there’s going to be a bit longer to wait, for now.

She admitted it’s more likely this will now come ‘early next year’ due to a pretty hectic year for the Leicestershire-based star.

‘With everything opening back up, I kind of got a little bit lost in touring and realise it’s actually quite hard to do both at the same time,’ noted the Simmer singer.

Earlier this week, she got to help close the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, and Black Sabbath in a star-studded ceremony.

Giving her thoughts on the unique spectacle, she concluded: ’The fact that I’m surrounded by a bunch of other artists who are also extremely successful, and are also from similar areas or similar places to where I grew up… it’s just really special for the city.’
