The 42-year-old presenter with a statement.

‘I have let know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning,’ she began.

She added that it was ‘a difficult goodbye’ and that she was making the decision for her own and her family’s benefit.

The comments section was quickly flooded with support.

Her regular co-host wrote: ‘This is a very sad day ! Love you ?.’

added: ‘We are so supportive of you and we love you to bits, we just wish it didn’t end this way. Its a sad day for everyone. ?.’

‘You have made me laugh until my cheeks ache sharing the sofa with you. We are sending you so much love HW,’ said another one of Holly’s regular co-hosts – Josie Gibson.

Friday host Dermot O’Leary penned: ‘Nothing but love and respect for you and yours. X.’

Vanessa Feltz echoed the rest of the team’s sentiments and wrote: ‘We will miss you so very much darling.’

As well as This Morning stars she was supported by friends. Bestie Nicole Appleton simply shared: ‘I love you sooo much!!❤️❤️❤️❤️xxx.’

Emma Bunton, who is part of her close friend group, also publicly showed Holly love with her comment: ‘Lots of love gorgeous girl.’

Abbey Clancy chose emojis to communicate how she was feeling: ‘???❤️❤️❤️.’

The regular contributors to the series also sent their love and luck.

Carol Vorderman took time to write: ‘Wishing you and your family peace and strength in what must be a very difficult time after the news of last week Holly x From my time on TM, I know that the team will miss you very much. Take care.’

Kevin Lygo, who is the managing director of media and entertainment at ITV said: ‘We are sad that Holly is leaving This Morning, but respect her decision which we know will have been extremely difficult for her to make.

He continued: ‘She has been at the heart of This Morning for the past 14 years, and she is adored by our viewers. 

‘Holly has brought her unique brand of warmth, energy, humour and fun to one of the country’s most popular daytime shows, and everyone on the programme will miss her enormously.’
