Amber Heard ‘taking stand tomorrow amid change in tactics’ in Johnny Depp trial after ‘sacking PR team’

is set to take the stand tomorrow in a ‘change in tactics’ amid her defamation trial with , it has been claimed.

, 36, for $50million (£39m) over a 2018 article she wrote in The Washington Post, which his lawyers say falsely implies he physically and sexually abused her – something he has denied.

The article does not mention him by name – but the Aquaman actress is countersuing for $100million (£76m) in damages, alleging that he libeled her by calling her a liar.

Heard was due to be the opening witness in the defense but reports now suggest that she will be the second on the stand as her team ‘shifts tactics’.

According to , her legal team have put Dr Dawn Hughes on the stand, at the Fairfax County Courthouse, in Virgina, first instead.

Heard has reportedly been scheduled to follow the clinical and forensic psychologist tomorrow instead.

The trial began last month, and has so far seen Depp take the stand alongside various witnesses, including his ex-bodyguard and their former couple’s therapist.

It has also been claimed that , after she became ‘frustrated’ with the coverage she had received so far during the trial, which began last month.

She reportedly axed the firm last week and has already hired a replacement, with a source telling the New York Post that she ‘doesn’t like bad headlines’.

Another insider also told the outlet that she is ‘frustrated with her story not being told effectively’.

Reports have claimed that she has since acquired the services of consulting firm Shane Communications in a bid to ‘help her get across her side better in the court of public opinion’.

The trial continues.
