She’s since undergone a single mastectomy and is now having chemotherapy after  which has also forced her out of Strictly 2023.
However, earlier this week, Amy teased a return to the Strictly studios and said  that she hopes to feature, whether it’s in a full dance routine, a video clip from home, or even on an episode of supplementary show It Takes Two.
‘I’ve been on the phone to the Strictly team today,’ she revealed to Hello! in a recent interview.
‘They said they’re getting me some fabulous wigs ready [for any appearances].’
Paying tribute to the organisers behind the scenes on the BBC talent show, she added: ‘The team are being guided by me – they’ve been utterly amazing.’
More details about her future on the show have now emerged, with a BBC spokesperson telling that she ‘will be in the series’ but she ‘wasn’t there to film the launch opener’.
Amy recently acknowledged how ‘hard’ it is not to be a part of the group numbers.
However, during a set visit, she received a glam-up by the hair and make-up team, before facing her third round of chemotherapy, marking the occasion by writing on her Story: ‘Let’s go! Number three! Next cycle I’ll be saying half way!’
Amy had  recently disclosed that she had a terrifying health scare after her first round of chemotherapy, as  in what was deemed a ‘life-threatening’ situation by doctors.
Following her return home, she was able to resume her treatment following her stage three breast cancer diagnosis, and has expressed her support for the cast of Strictly ahead of the launch of the new series.
‘So grateful for my @bbcstrictly family?, yesterday was just what I needed ahead of today. I’ve felt part of the whole journey so far!’ she wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of her with sparkly make-up and glamorous lashes.
‘I’ve seen all the group numbers and the process by videos, then again watching yesterday and WOW honestly the best yet!’
The dancer continued, writing how ‘hard’ it is not to be a part of the pro line-up this year, but stressing how ‘proud’ she is to work on the show.
‘Yes it’s hard not being up there with them doing what I love but so proud to [be] part of such a talented team,’ she wrote.
‘I loved being made glamorous by the hair and make up team, putting on a sparkly dress from [wardrobe] and feeling like Amy again being at my favourite place ?!
‘So very grateful! Now I’m on way to chemo number 3! Let’s hope no hospital admissions and scares after this one. But I’m going with a spring in my step this morning after yesterday and knowing everyday I’m closer to dancing on that floor again ???.’
