and could be next to leave on Sunday’s results show.

week may be over but– the dreaded Samba. Nothing fear in a Strictly contestant more than the thought of having to do a volta on the BBC series… it’s even scarier than Craig Revel Horwood’s three paddle.

Research by  has found that the style of dance is most likely to have you leaving behind Elstree Studio for good, so it’s no surprise her odds of 6/1 for elimination were instantly slashed to 5/1 following the announcement of her ‘doomed’ routine on Tuesday.

A whopping 21.6% of eliminations over the past six series have been dancing the Samba.

This includes two out of five of the couples for Strictly 2023 – Les Dennis and Nancy Xu were the first to leave after their nautical-themed routine did little to impress, and Eddie Kadi and Karen Hauer samba rolled right off the dancefloor in week five.

While the pairing has been safely getting through each week, often lingering around the middle of the leaderboard, this could pose a real challenge.

Angela, 39, and Carlos, 30, will have to pull out all the moves for their dance to Jennifer Lopez’s Ain’t It Funny in order to impress Craig, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, and Shirley Ballas.

They may want to look to their fellow competitors, who’ve managed to personally battle the ‘new curse’ with high kicks and shimmies as their weapon of choice – Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola made it through on their Samba two weeks ago, then Bobby ‘the hips’ Brazier and Dianne Buswell managed to survive with their Romeo and Juliet-themed Samba.

Strictly history has been made by the Samba too – both Danny Mac and Oti Mabuse, as well as Fleur East and Vito Coppolafor their energetic routines.

Luckily for Angela, she’s not the favourite to leave – Adam Thomas and Luba Mushtuk, who faced the dance-off last week against departee Zara McDermott and Graziano Di Prima are at 4/6, while Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe are also head at 9/2.

Body language expert Darren Stanton, who was speaking on behalf of , thinks it could be time for Adam, 35, and Luba, 33, who are dancing the Rumba to Dancing On My Own by Callum Scott, to take their final bow as they don’t have much left to give.

‘Adam and Luba could be evicted this week after being in the bottom two. Even though he is popular with viewers and the audience, he has reached the heights of his ability to dance,’ he began.

‘He’s done so well and his skills and confidence have grown massively, but I don’t think he has very much more to give of what we haven’t seen already. Many other couples still have some way to go and still have a journey ahead of them.

‘They have a strong connection, there’s no doubt about that. There’s a good level of chemistry and they have each other’s backs but it feels like it’s towards the end of their time. It could be that the viewers will have his back again, but physically, I sense he’s going to struggle to pull through this time.’

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday and Sunday on BBC One and iPlayer.
