Angelina Jolie visits Ukrainian city of Lviv amid ongoing attacks from Russian forces

has been spotted in the city of Lviv in , amid the ongoing attacks by Russian forces on the country.

The actress, 46, known for her humanitarian work, travelled to Ukraine, which has been devastated by shelling since February. 

Little is known about her visit, but Angelina was seen looking relaxed in wide-legged grey trousers and a slouchy jumper as she made a low-key visit to get a coffee in Lviv. 

Others in the coffee shop soon recognised the star, who smiled and waved as they filmed her on their phones and signed an autograph while waiting for her drink. 

She appeared to be with one male friend in the coffee shop, but interacted with fans who were excited to see her in their country on such a low-key visit. 

A video of her visit was shared on Facebook by Maya Pidhorodetska, who added: ‘Nothing special. Just Lviv. I just went to have coffee. Just Angelina Jolie.’

She added: ‘Ukraine is simply supported by the whole world.’

Lviv is in Western Ukraine, around 80 kilometres from the Polish border, and has faced shelling in recent weeks.

Angelina is no stranger to visiting war zones on a humanitarian mission, with the UN Special Envoy

There, the Hollywood star spoke with displaced families after arriving in the capital city of Aden, where she joined the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to provide aid.

Angelina first at the start of the Russian invasion in February, to say that she was praying for the people affected by the devastating bombing.

She wrote at the time: ‘Like many of you, I’m praying for the people in Ukraine. My focus along with my @refugees colleagues is that everything possible is done to ensure the protection and basic human rights of those displaced, and refugees in the region.

‘We have already seen reports of casualties and people starting to flee their homes to seek safety.

‘It is too soon to know what will happen, but the significance of this moment – for the people of Ukraine, and for the international rule of law – cannot be overstated.’
