has addressed the backlash towards SAS: Who Dares Wins after the new series debuted with his replacements.Â
The TV star was axed from the popular Channel 4 survivalist series in March 2021 due to his ‘personal conduct’. It came not long after Ant controversially made comments about the movement and Covid.
On Sunday, SAS returned with a brand new series featuring newbies Rudy Reyes and US Navy SEAL Remi Adeleke, who joined series regulars Billy Billingham and Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox.
However, many fans were unimpressed with the revamped programme and begged for Ant’s return.
Joining the criticism, one viewer tweeted: ‘It’s sad the Aussies get the best of you mate – your idea ruined sadly here.’
Ant then replied according to The Sun: ‘I am gutted about that to be fair! All that hard work down the drain, but on a super positive I can continue with my format and my show over in Australia. #everycloud.’Â
Sharing their gripe with the new episode, one viewer tweeted during the broadcast: ‘Not impressed with this new series so far. Bring back Ant,’ one person wrote.
Another agreed: ‘Never in a million years did I think I’d say this ….. Bring Back Ant Middleton.’
However, others were more patient and encouraged others to allow the new cast members to make their mark.
‘As for the new Directing Staff, they’re not Ant or Ollie, granted, but give em a chance,’ one said.
Agreeing, another replied: ‘You’re not gonna warm to them immediately, give them time. Also I love the new base, very gritty, and I reckon the heat is gonna be such a huge factor this series.’
SAS: Who Dares Wins returns next Sunday at 9pm on Channel 4.
