Anton Du Beke jokes he’s going to ‘get a tattoo’ in honour of Strictly – amid speculation about his future on the judging panel

has joked about getting his first tattoo in honour of , amid speculation about whether he’ll be returning this year as a judge.

The 55-year-old has been a professional dancer in the ballroom since the show first aired in 2004, although he’s never managed to get his hands on the Glitterball Trophy.

Last year, Anton alongside , Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas, having taken Bruno Tonioli’s place as a result of travel restrictions.

While it’s uncertain whether he’ll return as a judge or a pro this year, the dancer has joked that he would consider getting a tribute to Strictly inked on him to join in with some of the other professionals.

Reigning champion , who won last year with Rose Ayling-Ellis, as well as other professional male dancers Gorka Marquez, and Graziano Di Prima are all tattooed.

Speaking to , Anton joked: ‘It seems as if everybody is tattooed these days.

‘If you’re going to come on Strictly Come Dancing, you have got to have a tattoo.’

He added: ‘I am actually going to get a tattoo next year for Strictly. 

‘If I end up having to dance with somebody again I am going to tattoo my routine on my chest.’

The star joked that he hoped his future partners aren’t ‘short-sighted’, and that although he may be open to some ink, he’s still on the fence about any piercings.

Fans are still waiting to see whether Anton will return as a judge, after the pro dancer line-up was confirmed recently.

While fans are yet to hear whether Bruno will finally be back following his time away, Craig recently claimed that , before both he and Shirley put forward the idea of there being .

Anton made his first appearance as a temporary judge in 2020, when Motsi was forced to return home to Germany during the pandemic.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
