A new documentary series delving into the 14 mysterious UK deaths with alleged connections to is set to arrive later this month and judging by the trailer alone, it’s set to be totally gripping.
Once Upon A Time In Londongrad is a six-part series that charts how the UK became reliant on Russian money and missed opportunities to contain the Kremlin, and it couldn’t be more timely given the continued invasion.
The Sky documentary delves deep into the hidden underworld of Russian exiles in to link some of the most internationally significant cases in living memory, including the poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko.
The suspicious death of oligarch Boris Berezovsky and the attempted assassination of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal are also put under the microscope.
‘Look, 44-year-old guys do occasionally drop down dead while jogging,’ one contributor says during the 90-second trailer, referring to the Russian whistle-blower, Alexander Perepilichnyy, who collapsed and died while jogging near his Surrey home in 2012.
‘But we have so many dead people that anybody who comes too close gets Ki**ed.’
Elsewhere in the preview, which has been exclusively shared with Metro.co.uk, the UK’s ties with Russian money is also called into question.
‘London is levitating on a sea of dirty money and there have been no consequences,’ another contributor utters.
The series begins when investigative reporter Heidi Blake receives a tip on the death of a multi-millionaire property tycoon, leading her to uncover a web of death that entangles Russian oligarchs, 10 Downing Street and Washington, D.C.
Once Upon A Time In Londongrad is described as both a cautionary tale and an origins story of Russia’s path to eventually invading Ukraine.
