winner Alana Spencer has been hospitalised after breaking four ribs in an accident at work.
The and baker, 30, who was at the end of the 2016 edition of the show, told her fans of her plight on social media.
Alana and her team were applying the final touches to a new high street site for her Ridiculously Rich bakery chain in Camarthen, Wales when she fell from a ladder.
She posted a picture of herself lying down on a stretcher, being tended to by paramedics, before being taken away in an ambulance, and she also shared a video, detailing the incident.
Despite her injuries, she was still able to keep a smile on her face about the situation and maintained a good sense of humour about the unfortunate turn of events.
‘People often ask me why I insist upon doing all of my own manual work and have been telling me for years that I should always hire professionals instead,’ she captioned her post on Instagram.
‘Well, today, for the first time ever,’ she added, ‘I think I’m prepared to admit that they may be right!’
After she posted the news on the photo-sharing website, fans immediately poured in with tributes and good wishes.
‘Four broken ribs and you still have a smile on your face! Hoping you have a speedy recovery!’, one fan commented underneath the photo.
Bake Off 2019 semi-finalist Rosie Brandreth-Poynter, who won the Christmas Bake Off in 2020, commented: ‘Oh no! Hope you feel better soon!’
‘A lot of you have been asking me what I’ve done and how exactly I did it’, she added while sharing a video of the whole ordeal.
‘Well, here’s a little reel with the story, some more pics, and a very mangled ladder!’
Alana won the BBC business competition six years ago and collected the prize of £250,000 investment from the show’s host Lord Alan Sugar.
With Lord Sugar’s investment, she was able to open her luxury chocolate and cake business, Ridiculously Rich by Alana.
Since then, she has opened a number of coffee and cake shops around her native Wales, in Llandudno, Caernarfon, and her hometown of Aberystwyth.
