Will Taylor Swift perform at Wembley Stadium?

When asked about the events in Austria, Mr Khan told Sky News on Thursday: ‘We are a capital city, we are an international city, on a regular basis we host major events, whether it’s concerts – Bruce Springsteen was most recently at Wembley Stadium – we’re looking forward to welcoming Taylor Swift back.

‘I’m currently at (Chelsea’s football stadium) Stamford Bridge. Every other week there’s a game taking place. We have a huge amount of experience in policing these events, we’re never complacent, many lessons were learnt after the awful Manchester Arena attack.

‘The police work closely, not just with City Hall, but with councils, but also with those who host concerts, like the Taylor Swift concert coming up over the next couple of weeks.

‘I’m sure Vienna has got its own reasons to cancel the Taylor Swift concerts, we’re going to carry on, working closely with police (and) ensuring that the Taylor Swift concerts can take place in London safely.’

The All Too Well icon is scheduled for five nights ofand recently announced a second opening act for each concert.

While Wembley has not been cancelled, some fans have decided to give up their tickets as they feel ‘unsafe’ over going to the concert.

They wrote: ‘I am still delusional and hope the riots in the UK will settle down in time for the shows in London and somehow I will be able to feel safe enough to go.

‘In any case, I will still be selling my ticket to someone who was supposed to be at the Vienna shows (hopefully someone who was supposed to see Taylor for the first time).’

Describing themselves as ‘heartbroken’ and ‘lost’, the anonymous account added: ‘At the end of the day it is always safety above all else and if you feel unsafe even you do not need to be anywhere you’re not sure of.

‘I myself am heartbroken because I’ve been considering and basically decided at this point to cancel my trip to London just as I managed to get a ticket 💔.

‘As a poc especially with what’s going in the UK, I did not want to take the risk but if you are travelling from overseas and attending the shows and live in London as well please stay on top of the news of what is going on at all times and remain vigilant, sending love and have the best time at the shows.’

Franz Ruf, The General Director for Public Security, said in a press conference a 19-year-old Austrian citizen was arrested in Ternitz on Wednesday morning.

He allegedly said the teenager and another suspect had been ‘radicalised by the internet’ and it’s reported chemicals were found at his home during the arrest.

‘The suspected perpetrator was focused on the Taylor Swift concerts. Preparatory actions were detected,’ Ruf added.

There has been no mention of rescheduling the Eras Tour Austria and it is unlikely given Taylor’s confirmation the tour will end in December after returning to the US.

Policing minister Diana Johnson has also reassured fans that Scotland Yard will look at ‘all the intelligence’ ahead of the concerts.

‘Clearly, the police will be looking at all the intelligence and making decisions, they risk assess every event that happens in this country, and that’s something for the police,’ she told LBC.

‘Can I also just say there is, of course, a commitment in our manifesto in the General Election to introduce Martyn’s law, which, again, is about making sure that those … venues which could be subject to terrorist attack have in place everything that they need in terms of keeping people safe, and that will be brought forward by the government shortly.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted Wembley Stadium and Taylor’s reps for comment.
