Both Ariana and Ethan were married to other people, with reports coming earlier this month that Ariana’s marriage to Dalton Gomez was over after two years together and the pair had separated.
Ethan, meanwhile, has been married to wife Lilly since 2018 and she gave birth to their first child, a son, last August.
Now the father-of-one has reportedly filed for divorce, submitting papers in New York this week.
reports that they obtained legal documents relating to the divorce, but do not know the specific reasons listed for the split.
Sources told the outlet both Ariana and Ethan were single when they began dating, but a source close to the actor’s estranged wife said she was ‘blindsided’ to hear the rumours about Ariana and felt he had ‘abandoned’ her and their son.
Another source close to the rumoured new couple said the pair were ‘trying to lay low and be respectful of their exes as they pursue this new relationship.’
They added it was ‘understandable that emotions are high and it’s hard seeing your ex move on.’
Neither Ethan nor Ariana have commented publicly on the rumours.
Scream Queens actress Ariana reportedly spent time with Ethan and Lilly together when they were a couple and has previously liked posts on Instagram in which Ethan spoke of his love for his wife.
The reports come after it was claimed that Lilly barely got a warning before they made headlines around the world, with Ethan seemingly informing his estranged wife of his new relationship days before things became public.
Ethan and Lilly had dated for 10 years, having been high school sweethearts, and tied the knot five years ago.
