In what seems to be a common trend these days, OTK, the group headed by streamers Asmongold and Mizkif, have invested into Notorious Studios, an indie outfit that is made up of .
Notorious Studios is named after the guild group the two lead developers had in World Of Warcraft and their first game is a role-playing game called Project Honor. It’s a traditional role-player though and not a massively multiplayer game like World Of Warcraft.
OTK join content creators like and children’s YouTube channel in making their own video games, with OTK even hosting a virtual games expo on June 8 to show off a bevvy of new and old indie titles.
‘OTK and Notorious coming together represents what we believe to be the future of game development and publishing,’ said streamer .
‘Never before has an influencer group of our size partnered with a game studio of Notorious’ calibre. We believe this partnership will change indie game development forever.’
Project Honor appears to be in early development stages, with the promised sneak peek at OTK Games Expo only a trailer of the developers talking about their plans for the game and showing off concept art.
‘We’ve talked about developing games for a long time, so the idea of partnering with a team that aligns so closely with how we see gaming was a no-brainer,’ said .
The streamer is known for his , as well as his recent commentary on the , and racking up hundreds of dollars in .
Independent game development of this size has gotten considerably more expensive, with teams needing to seek funding on a regular basis. Famously, Star Citizen by Cloud Imperium games has been crowd funded since its inception, , but they’re an exception.
With this in mind, it appears that OTK are investing to ensure that the game comes to fruition, but to also begin to expand into other content creation outside of streaming.
