Nick Carter is being sued for sexual battery after assault allegations, it has been claimed.
The singer has been met with accusations that he sexually assaulted a fan in 2001, following a concert in Tacoma – something he has fiercely denied.
According to legal documents obtained by , the 42-year-old invited Shannon Ruth, who has autism and cerebral palsy, to his tour bus after the performance, and asked if she wanted a drink.
The publication states that Ruth, who was thought to be 17 years old at the time, requested apple juice but was told that the I Want It That Way musician had cranberry juice, before giving her a ‘red colored drink’ that he branded ‘VIP juice’.
She alleged that it tasted off, voicing her belief that it contained a mix of cranberry juice and alcohol.
Carter allegedly then took her to the bathroom on the bus and ordered that she should perform oral sex on him.
Ruth, who was reportedly a virgin at the time, claimed that she was crying throughout the alleged incident but that he continued to instruct her.
Following this, she alleged that he took her to a bed and sexually assaulted her – after which he threatened to turn people against her if she spoke out, calling her a ‘little b***h’ and suggesting that no one would believe her.
The paperwork reportedly states that she contracted HPV, and is seeking damages – but it is not clear how much is being sought.
Carter has not spoken publicly but an insider told TMZ: ‘This accusation is categorically false, Nick is focusing on his family and mourning the death of his brother.’
The claims come shortly after the death of his sibling, Aaron Carter, at the beginning of last month.
The former child star died at the age of 34, at his California home.
‘My heart has been broken today,’ his brother later shared on social media. ‘Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded.
‘I have always held onto the hope, that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.
‘Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.’
He added: ‘I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz, now you get a chance to finally have some peace you could never find here on earth… God, please take care of my baby brother.’
