Bayonetta 3 confirmed for 2022 but Advance Wars still TBA on Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has revealed its full line-up of first party games for the rest of the year, although there’s still no clue about Metroid Prime 4.

While we know virtually nothing about the line-up for and PlayStation exclusives for the second half of the year Nintendo has been unusually un-secretive about their games, with most new titles even having specific release dates.

There were still a few uncertainties though but as part of their new financial results, Nintendo has confirmed that Bayonetta 3, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks Of Hope, and Pokémon Scarlet/Violet are all still being released this year – with the latter specified as ‘late 2022’.

The only announced games that don’t have a release year are Metroid Prime 4 (no surprise there) and , which Nintendo indefinitely delayed because of the Russian invasion of .

That hopefully means that Advance Wars hasn’t been completely cancelled, but it wouldn’t be unlike Nintendo to just quietly mothball it, when they think everyone has forgotten about it.

The list of other games with specific dates is as follows, which doesn’t seem to leave a whole lot of room for any surprise announcements later in the year.

Any fan knows better than to second guess Nintendo but while there are probably a few smaller titles yet to be announced it’s hard to imagine there’s going to be anything else big for the rest of the year. Especially as Nintendo will be trying to get Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 out the door as soon as possible next year.

Both Sony and Nintendo announced their financial results today and both admitted that they’ve sold less consoles than they initially intended because of .

It was otherwise a positive set of results for Nintendo though, with software sales up 1.8% on last year for a total of 235.07 million. That made for the highest ever annual software sales figure for a Nintendo format, which is quite the achievement given the Switch hasn’t even had much new out in the last 12 months.

Amongst the successes were Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which has sold 12.64 million copies, Metroid Dread on 2.9 million, and Kirby: The Forgotten Land on 2.1 million.

The latter two are on course to be the most successful entries ever in their respective franchises, which is going to make the eventual release of Metroid Prime 4 especially interesting.
