Breakfast’s Emma Vardy has confirmed her break from the news programme as she starts maternity leave.
The anchor had been filling in for co-anchor Nina Warhurst who is currently on maternity leave too after in July.
Sitting on top of two washing machines, Emma held up some laundry and joked she was going to have to be getting used to ‘housewife chores’.
‘Well that’s me off on mat leave!!’ she declared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
‘Resigned to an eternity of housewife chores & dirty laundry. Career girl out. (And if u believe that you’ll believe anything )
‘Celebrated the start of this new chapter with cocktails at this perfectly disguised speakeasy!! .’
Fans immediately sent their well-wishes to the presenter.
‘All the best Emma … come back soon, you’re one of the best journalists on the Beeb,’ replied one particularly big fan, while another agreed: ‘All the very best and good luck with everything.
‘You are a fine broadcaster. What you are going to do well next will manifest and as it does you will shine. This much we know…’
Emma’s news comes after her co-anchor Nina shared a heartwarming photos last week of her dementia-stricken father meeting his new granddaughter for the first time.
It was as moving as you can imagine.
Sharing a snap of her whole all-female brood, Nina wrote: ‘When you wanted a squad of lads, but Ma Nature had other plans.
‘Dad meets the latest addition. It was not quiet.’
We bet!
