Supermodel will soon be swapping the runway for the after scoring her first acting gig in Hulu sitcom Ramy.
The show’s producers are so far keeping schtum on the details of the 25-year-old’s character and how she will be involved in the third season’s plot, but confirmed the role will be recurring.
In Ramy, ’s little sister will star alongside comedian Ramy Youssef, who co-created the series and plays the titular role.
Other cast members in the A24-produced show, the studio behind HBO’s , include , Mohammed Amer, Hiam Abbass, Amr Waked, May Calamawy, Dave Merheje, Laith Nakli and Steve Way.
Exploring the challenges of being caught between a religious community and being a millennial, Ramy follows first-generation, Egyptian-American Ramy Hassan (Youssef) and his family as they navigate spirituality in their politically-divided New Jersey neighbourhood.
The series debuted on Hulu, which is owned by Disney, in 2019 and has won plaudits for its portrayal of American Muslims.
Youssef has also been nominated for a host of awards for playing the role, including two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
While Ramy will be Bella’s first real acting job, the influencer, who used to date popstar The Weeknd, has appeared in a host of commercials as a model, including for car firm BMW.
Other models to have ventured into the acting world include Emily Ratajkowski, who had a role in Gone Girl and Zac Efron’s We are Your Friends, and Kate Upton, who appeared alongside Cameron Diaz in The Other Woman.
