Lawson was born in the city of Los Angeles, which is located in California. She is the step-daughter of Lawson’s second wife Tina Knowles and the step-sister of singers Beyoncé and Solange Knowles. Her biological parents are Denise and actor Richard Lawson. Additionally, Lawson is the grand-niece of Berry Gordy, the creator of Motown.
