Billie Lourd has paid tribute to her late grandmother Debbie Reynolds in honour of what would’ve been her 90th birthday.
Lourd, 29, previously described the loss of her grandmother as ‘really, really brutal,’ and has now shared a sweet throwback snap in her memory.
Taking to Instagram, the Scream Queens actress shared an adorable childhood snap of a precious moment with her grandmother.
The pic shows Lourd as a toddler playing with Reynolds, appearing to be feeding her as they enjoyed a tea party with her Minnie Mouse tea set.
She captioned the post with ‘❤️??️???️❤️,’ which seems to be a reference to Lourd’s nickname for Reynolds, ‘Abadaba.’
The endearing moniker was inspired by the song Aba Daba Honeymoon, which featured in Reynolds’ 1950 film Two Weeks with Love.
Fans were quick to fill the comments of Lourd’s Instagram with love, with one writing: ‘Miss her so much, sending so much love ❤️❤️❤️’
‘Happy Birthday Debbie! ✨? You will always be in our hearts. ?’ commented another.
Reynolds died on December 28, 2016 following a stroke, just one day after the death of her daughter and Billie’s mother, , at aged 60.
Fisher suffered a heart attack while on a flight from London to Los Angeles just days earlier, with her death sending shockwaves amongst heartbroken Star Wars fans.
Marking back in December, Lourd also posted a throwback photo and penned a powerful message about grief.
She began: ‘People always ask me what stage of grief I’m in. And my answer is never simple. I’m in a different stage of grief in each moment of every day.’
‘My grief is a multi course meal with many complicated ingredients. An amuse bouche of bargaining followed by an anger appetizer with a side of depression, acceptance for the entree and of course a little denial for dessert,’ she added.
‘And that’s how grief should be – all things all at once – actually there is no “should” in grief – grief just is whatever it is for you and that is how it “should be”.’
Pre-empting any questions on her appearing to post her tribute to Fisher a day earlier than the anniversary of her death, revealed that she was currently in Australia, where it was already December 17.
‘Ps for anyone wondering why I’m posting this on the 26th it’s the 27th here down unda (aka Tomorrowland) so what better thing to post for my Momby’s Australian death anniversary (4 words I never thought I’d be putting next to each other?!?) than this picture of her and I with a koala!?’ she wrote.
Lourd, who is and talent agent Bryan Lourd, then signed off her message with ‘sending my love to anyone out there who needs it’ along with a slew of emojis, which included hearts and spelled out ‘I miss you Momby’, her name for Fisher.
Speaking last October on the New Day podcast, Lourd got candid about her losses: ‘It was brutal. It was really, really brutal, and I still hesitate and stutter because it’s really hard for me.’
She added that ‘everything I say gets turned into some headline that I didn’t mean, saying: ‘There’s this one where I said something, and it was like three months after she died. I didn’t know what the f**k I was talking about or who the f**k I was or what was going on. And I said something like, “Well, now that they’re gone, I get to just be Billie”.’
The star previously said she was able to ‘get out of the shadow’ of her famous relatives following their deaths, but later clarified how that ‘is absolutely the opposite of what I wanted.’
‘I would do anything to get them back, but it sounded like I was excited to have The Billie Show,’ she said.
The TV star remarked on trying to ‘separate’ herself from her mother and grandmother’s success when they were alive, but now that is the last thing she wants.
‘I try to connect myself to them because I miss them.’
