’ mum Tish reportedly from husband last week, after almost 30 years of marriage.
The couple tied the knot in 1993 and share five children as well as the Wrecking Ball singer, but court documents supposedly list ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the split.
This is actually the couple’s third time filing for divorce following quite a rollercoaster of a relationship.
The Achy Breaky heart musician filed for divorce in 2010 before calling off proceedings to ‘put his family back together.’
Following their brief reunion, Tish filed for the first time in 2013, but that split was also called off.
Now, according to TMZ, the pair are thought to be requesting an equal distribution of marital assets and divorcing for real.
Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus’ relationship history
Tish and Billy Ray’s love story began in the early 1990s. Before Tish – real name Laticia Jean Finley – met Billy Ray, she was married to a local drummer named Baxter Neal Helson and they share two children. Billy Ray was also in a five-year marriage to Cindy Smith when he met Tish, so the new couple later married in secret.
The We Can’t Stop singer – born Destiny Hope Cyrus – was born on November 23, 1992. This was prior to her parents marrying, at which point father Billy Ray also fathered a son with another woman, Kristin Luckey, named Christopher Cody.
Country singer Billy Ray saidthat his record company warned him against marrying Tish, but he ignored their concerns and followed his heart.
While Billy Ray’s career had taken off, Tish had been an extra on his Achy Breaky Heart music video and wasn’t considered ‘suitable’ for him.
Tish and Billy Ray finally married in 1993, on December 28. Tish then had her fourth child, Braison Chance Cyrus, in 1994.
Noah Lindsey Cyrus, was born on January 8, 2000 and was Tish’s fifth child. She is the youngest sibling of Trace, Brandi, and Miley.
The Disney channel phenomenon Hannah Montana started on March 24, 2006 and Miley was soon catapulted to fame. At the time, Miley was a little-known actress and singer, and she starred alongside her famous father, with the show opening to the highest ratings in the channel’s history. Hannah Montana ran until January 16, 2011.
Billy Ray first filed for divorce on October 26, 2010. He cited irreconcilable differences and the couple said in a statement: ‘As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.’
On March 18, 2011, Billy Ray announced on The View that he was no longer filing for divorce, saying he wanted to prioritise his family.
Just two years later on June 13, 2013, Tish filed for divorce from Billy Ray after 19 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences once again.
Despite filing for divorce in 2013, it was reported in July of that year that Tish and Billy Ray had gone to couples therapy and rekindled their relationship.
Different publications said the couple wanted to do what was best for their family, so gave their marriage another shot.
Miley has been vocal about her love and admiration for her mother, saying she’s been a constant support throughout her break-ups.
She’s previously said that she ‘worships’ Tish and, in 2019, shared a sweet Instagram tribute to her, also revealing in her song Mother’s Daughter that she gets her rebellious spirit from Tish.
Tish filed for divorce again in April 2022. This time, since all of their children are adults, the couple will not have to discuss custody agreements.
Tish is reportedly asking for an equal division between her and Billy Ray.
