Brian May has dropped a pretty big hint that Queen may once again perform for the actual Queen at her celebrations.

The guitarist, 74, previously performed a guitar solo of the national anthem on top of for II’s Golden Jubilee 20 years ago in 2002, and admitted it would be hard to top that legendary moment.

Speaking to BBC Radio 2’s Gary Davies, Brian hinted on Friday that Queen might be on the line-up of this year’s show.

He revealed: ‘I don’t think I’m allowed to tell you this but I think something might happen. There is talk of something happening. What can I tell you?

‘We may be there, Gary, we may actually be there. Of course, it’s hard to follow standing on the roof of Buckingham Palace but you never know it might be possible.’

Singer George Ezra is the first act to be revealed to performa at this year’s Platinum Party At The Palace on June 4, which celebrates Britain’s longest-reigning monarch’s 70 years of service.

The celebrations will take place across a four-day weekend in June and will include a live pop concert at Buckingham Palace, a carnival pageant on the streets of London, Jubilee lunches, and the lighting of beacons across the world.

The pop concert, which will take place on the Saturday evening, will feature some of the world’s biggest stars performing across three stages as well as 3D projections across the face of Buckingham Palace and an in-person audience of 10,000.

It was previously announced that there would be ‘rock royalty’ in attendance – which would definitely suggest Queen might be making an appearance – as well as ‘your favourite film stars, TV stars, all the musicians you could ever ask for.’

The Queen celebrated the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne on February 6, 2022, and is the first British monarch to ever reach the milestone.Â
