The next season of could spell the end which could play out in emotional scenes.
After two seasons of the main show, and the spin-off Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, we feel like we’ve grown pretty close to the girls and guys surviving and thriving in the Regency era, so we’ll be sad to see any of the characters permanently saying goodbye.
The upcoming Netflix series is set to focus on Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington’s love story, played by Luke Newton and respectively.
In the novel, Colin and Penelope are the definition of a slow burn with their love story taking ten years to come to full fruition. Although the show doesn’t directly reflect the Julia Quinn that it is based on, they do retain many elements.
‘But who’s going to die?’ we hear we scream out – well we’re getting to that.
The second season of Bridgerton was set in 1814, which means that we could end up as far forward as 1824.
Queen Charlotte, who is based on the actual royal, died in 1818, so you can see what we’re sadly getting at. King George died two years later aged 81, so the character played by Corey Mylchreest and James Fleet could be affected too. Young Charlotte is played by India Amarteifio, and Golda Rosheuvel portrays the monarch in her later years.
The show writers use creative freedom when it comes to Charlotte, who does not feature in the Bridgerton literature.
‘Although Queen Charlotte is a real historical figure, this is not a history lesson.
‘It is very important that people understand that, because I’m telling the story of Queen Charlotte of Bridgerton, not of Queen Charlotte of England,’ Shonda Rhimes, the writer of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, told .
Aspects of Charlotte and George’s were all in the series and true. While other aspects such as arranging their children’s marriages were factually incorrect, so we’ll have to wait and see Netflix decide when it comes to their future fates.
A fixed release date for Bridgerton season three hasn’t yet been announced, but it’s understood that the show is expected to return at some point this year.
Bridgerton seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Netflix.
