Bridgerton season 2: Who is Polly Walker and what else has she been in?

is back for a second season with brand new episodes available on Netflix and Polly Walker is back as the steamy period drama makes a highly anticipated return.

In the , Anthony Bridgerton (), the eldest sibling in his family, is  to make his Viscountess, with fans set to meet a host of new characters and favourites from the first season.

Polly returns as matriarch Lady Portia Featherington, and she recently promised a ‘glow up’ for season two.

She told Glamour: ‘Everything is a lot brighter and many of the characters have had a glow up. Viewers are used to Lady Featherington’s bright outfits but this time around I look even more the part, I mean I got to finally wear false eyelashes!

There is nothing repetitive in the new show so although it focuses on a different love story, it does not copy anything you have seen before.’

Who is Polly Walker?

As we said, Polly Walker reprises her role as matriarch Lady Portia in the second season of Bridgerton with the 55-year-old English actress back for the new run.

However, you meant not recognise her in other projects – or even out and about – because the team have done such a good job creating the character on screen.

‘They have created this character that looks nothing like me and so I can go to Tescos and not get recognised,’ she added to Glamour. ‘I dress in black, nothing like my character’s choice of clothing but we do share some things in common; family, loyalty and bravery.

‘In the new season, there is a lot you will see Lady Featherington has to be brave about. She is a survivor.’

What else as Polly Walker been in?

Polly Walker’s first film role came as the title character in 1990 TV movie Lorna Doone, while her big screen debut came as Cecilia in Journey of Honour the following year.

She’s gone onto star in the likes of Enchanted April, Pariot Games, Restoration, The Gambler and Savage Messiah, while her most recent movie appearance was in 2012’s John Carter.

She’s a Golden Globe nominee too, having made the shortlist in 2006 for her performances in Rome.

Meanwhile, BBC viewers will now her roles as Francesca and Gill Biggeloe in Prisoners’ Wives and respectively.
