We can always rely on judge to bring the theatrics, and he did just that in the show’s latest Grease-inspired skit.
After a two-year hiatus, with a bang on Saturday night, and to celebrate the programme’s comeback, the panel paid homage to the beloved 70s musical – starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
The teaser opened with a rather confused Ant and Dec eating in a Greek restaurant, however, Ant couldn’t help but wonder where the other four judges were.
‘I spoke to Amanda [Holden] to see what the judges were up to, and she told me Grease is the word,’ Dec assured him.
As the saying goes, context is everything.
The clip later cuts to Amanda and Alesha Dixon rocking the Pink Ladies attire – which consists of a baby pink jacket – with the signature embroidery stitching at the front.
As Amanda was driving the classic convertible, there was David, aka Sandra Dee, waiting on the sidelines.
The 50-year-old funnyman nailed the leading lady look down to a tee, as he had Sandy’s iconic yellow cardigan draped over his shoulders and an A-line skirt to complete the look.
Always going the extra mile!
Amanda couldn’t help but comment on the drastic makeover, although she did brand the whole thing a little strange.’
‘No need for the strangely,’ David retorted. ‘Just attractive.’
While we hoped Simon would do the honours as Travolta’s Danny Zuko, he opted for his usual comfy get-up and rocked an all-black ensemble…. to David’s dismay.
Despite the lack of joke acts and red buzzers, last night’s debut was jam-packed, with after her rendition of Never Enough, and getting emotional as two sisters surprised their dad on stage.
Elsewhere viewers saw an array of acts, from a comedic robot to death-defying scooter stunts performed by small children.
And fans are ready to go through it all again in tonight’s instalment.
Britain’s Got Talent continues on Sunday at 7.35pm on ITV.
