They say talent shows require blood, sweat and tears, and tonight that proved to be true after a auditionee suffered a head injury after smashing his way through ice on stage.

, ‘The Iceman’, wowed the judges after bending a metal hammer, breaking a wooden bat, and then smashing blocks of ice with his head.

Judges , Amanda Holden, David Williams and Alesha Dixon were visibly in shock (but also impressed) by the ordeal, while the live audience (and those of us watching at home) were on the edge of their seats as JD made his way through blocks of ice, but he reacted with pride to his injuries at the end of it.

The World Record Holder, who has also appeared on other international talent stages, wowed the audience with his strongman act, but it wasn’t his first time on one of Simon’s shows, as he has previously appeared on Red or Black.

‘That’s unbelievable, you are stronger than the Titanic, aren’t you?’ Simon commented.

David added: ‘Well, you’re very butch dear, aren’t you?! Oh you’re bleeding a bit from your head, are you okay?’

Despite the blood, JD assured: ‘Sweet… I’m fine.’

Alesha said: ‘That looked so much fun, it really did. Honestly, you are a legend. That was great, that was so entertaining. I loved it!’ while Amanda jokingly added: ‘I mean it’s just a scratch isn’t it JD.’

The Iceman replied: ‘I don’t even feel it, I’m just grateful to be here.’

He managed to score a standing ovation from all four judges as well as getting through to the next round, with Simon saying: ‘That was a difficult act to describe to anyone, that was brilliant.’

‘I’m afraid to say no anyway,’ he added.

The Iceman, who holds the Guinness World Record for ‘The most ice blocks broken by a human battering ram’, has appeared on The Daily Show with John Stewart, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as well as Simon’s Red or Black and America’s Got Talent.

In fact, during season nine of America’s Got Talent, after scoring yeses from Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel, JD made it through to the quarterfinals before being eliminated.

He’s also auditioned for France’s Got Talent last year, and was a finalist on Germany’s Got Talent in 2018.
