might be the man behind , but even he’s not immune to criticism, especially from his eight-year-old son.

The judge admitted on this week’s grand final that little Eric had given him an ‘earful’ after popular act was eliminated from the show.

Luckily for Eric, Amber and (one of) the collies, Nymeria, were brought back as a wildcard to compete in the final.

Their Grease-themed routine only featured one dog this time after Simon said that their semi-final performance with two dogs was too much.

Speaking after the performance, Simon, 62, said: ‘I got an earful from my son Eric the other night saying, “Why didn’t the make it through?”

‘And I said because “They weren’t as good.”‘

Simon had been disappointed that Amber and the pups hadn’t performed as well as in their first audition, but said that their final performance reminded him of that ‘magical’ moment.

‘You could actually win,’ he told her, with the other judges also raving about the performance.

Alesha Dixon described the dog as ‘next level’ and said that future canine acts will have to now meet their standard.

Amber performed a swashbuckling pirate-themed routine with her two  on Tuesday’s semi-final, but to music duo and judge Alesha’s Golden Buzzer act Flintz & T4ylor and impressionist Ben Nickless, coming in third.
