Britain’s Got Talent’s Simon Cowell refuses to let son Eric audition for show: ‘I would be petrified’

doesn’t want his son Eric auditioning for any time soon.

The TV judge, 62, will be back on our screens this weekend alongside fellow panellists Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

BGT returns after a year off-air due to the pandemic, with of the nation’s favourite talent show.

This will be the show’s 15th series and the 10th year of pressing those dreaded red buzzers.

One of the best things about BGT is the variety and how acts of all talents and ages can apply, all hoping to bag that spot on the Royal Variety.

However, Simon – who welcomed baby Eric with partner Lauren Silverman in 2014 – doesn’t want his mini-me performing for him, admitting he would be ‘petrified.’

His revelation came during in a Q&A during press for the ITV show, when children’s author David began by saying parenthood impacts each of their judging styles.

‘I think that having kids definitely changes you. I think Amanda was the only person who was a parent before [we started],’ David said.

‘Now we’ve all got children, I think that obviously makes us probably a bit more sensitive, doesn’t it? Especially when kids come on and perform, you know, we are absolutely rooting for them thinking that could be our child out there.’

Simon agreed as he added: ‘[It makes you think] Oh my God? What if that was Eric? I would be like, “Wow”. I mean, I would be petrified.’

Also in the Q&A session, Simon gave a teaser of what’s to come this series, describing the moment a young boy fell off his scooter.

He clarified that ‘that sort of stuff does not happen very often’ and he doesn’t think they have ‘ever’ had a child hurt themselves on stage.

‘But the truth is, when kids have bikes, scooters, skateboards, say with Eric, I mean, when he goes to skateboarding lessons, unfortunately, you do fall over, and I’ve fallen off many things as well! Even more!’

Just two months ago, Simon was which left him with a broke arm.

Luckily, he’s back fighting fit and we can’t wait for BGT to return this weekend.
