The musician, 41, was out with her husband Sam Asghari in Las Vegas on Wednesday evening when she was reportedly hit by a bodyguard,
According to , Britney was attempting to approach NBA star Victor Wembanyama and tapped him on the shoulder by a member of his security detail.
Her husband Sam has of the ‘coward’ seurity guard, while Victor himself has insisted he didn’t realise what had happened.
Now a witness to the alleged incident has spoken about what he saw, claiming the Toxic singer was using a British accent throughout.
Brian Grajales told the outlet she made a beeline for the sports star, saying in an English accent: ‘Excuse me sir, excuse me sir,’ and touched his back, at which point a bodyguard slapped her.
He said he couldn’t remember if Brit had fallen to the floor, as was reported initially, but that she shouted in an accent: ‘This is f*****g America!’
It was reported that Britney returned to her table, with the security member later apologising to her, with Brit seemingly accepting.
A member of law enforcement had told TMZ that the security guard had hit Britney’s hand, and that her hand had then hit her face.
Eyewitness Brian claims that is not true.
He is believed to have told her: ‘You understand how it is when you’re being swarmed by fans.’
Her team reportedly filed a police report with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, citing battery, however the outlet claims it will be a civil matter rather than criminal.
It’s reported the Metropolitan Police Department is conducting a criminal investigation and interviewed Britney this morning.
A spokesperson for the LVMPD told Metro.co.uk: ‘On July 5, 2023, at approximately 11 p.m., LVMPD officers responded to a property in the 3700 block of Las Vegas Boulevard regarding a battery investigation.
‘The incident has been documented on a police report and no arrest or citations have been issued. No further details will be provided at this time.’
In a statement on Thursday night, Sam slammed what he called ‘the violent behavior of an out-of-control security guard’ but said it ‘should not cast a shadow on the accomplishment of a great young man on the rise [Victor].’
‘The blame should fall on the coward who did this, the people who hired him without proper vetting, and a systemic culture of disregard for women within sports and entertainment.’
NBA star Victor said a person had ‘grabbed me from behind, not on my shoulder’ and while he ‘didn’t see what happened’ he knows ‘security pushed her away.’
‘I don’t know with how much force, I didn’t stop to look, I kept walking.’
Metro.co.uk has contacted Britney’s reps for comment.
