After destroying and replacing the Verdansk map last year, Activision has plans to bring it back to Call Of Duty: Warzone in 2023.

For the longest time, Verdansk was the only map available in Call Of Duty: Warzone. Until Activision blew it up and replaced it with the to coincide with ’s release.

That was only four months ago and it turns out Activision already has plans to bring Verdansk back in a 2023 update, following the release of .

An Activision employee revealed this information during a now-deleted livestream. Although they mention that Verdansk will only come back for ‘certain platforms.’

Call Of Duty: Warzone 2, meanwhile, is said to feature a ‘new big map,’ suggesting that it will be something entirely original and not just a reworked version of Verdansk.

These comments have some fans speculating that Verdansk will only feature in the mobile version of Call Of Duty: Warzone. This version was rumoured for ages, but Activision finally admitted its existence in March through searching for new hires.

In response to the clip, which has been shared on , one fan theorises that Verdansk will come back to the console versions of Warzone 1 since Warzone 2 is expected to be an entirely separate game. One that will release only for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

‘I think at best this means they will keep Verdansk on old gen consoles as they’ve said Warzone 2 will be next gen (now current gen) and PC only. And there won’t be inter-gen compatibility so Warzone 2 and Warzone legacy will be separate titles,’ says .

While Warzone 2 is expected to release later this year, Activision is unlikely to immediately drop support for the first one, since the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One still have active userbases.

As such, it’s plausible that it will add Verdansk back to the game after Warzone 2 comes out. However, Activision has yet to share any real information on Warzone 2, beyond its initial announcement, which was strangely low-key and didn’t even feature screenshots or a logo, let alone gameplay.

It also has plans to of Warzone 1 and will likely encourage players to upgrade. Just like Warzone 2, these versions only have a nebulous 2022 release date.

Call Of Duty: Warzone is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
