Catherine O’Hara had ‘sickening’ real-life Home Alone moment

Catherine O’Hara has revealed that she accidentally suffered a brief Home Alone moment with her own children.

The 69-year-old , alongside Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and John Heard – and went on to reprise her role in the 1992 sequel.

In the iconic film, the family while jetting off to for the festive period, unwittingly forcing him to take on two burglars by himself.

Speaking in a new interview, she explained that she had a very brief, similar moment with her own children, Matthew and Luke – who she shares with husband Bo Welch – while in .

‘We were in New York once; I think it was New York. Bo and I got on the subway, we turned around, the doors are closing, and they weren’t on,’ she told .

‘I screamed and people screamed with me. Everybody joined in.’

Thankfully, their screams worked and the doors reopened, meaning the family were quickly reunited.

‘It makes me sick to think what could have happened,’ she continued. ‘What happens? You’re on the train, it goes to the next stop, and you think, are they going to stay in that spot?

‘Are they going to be safe? Will we go back? Will they think, “Oh, I’ll get on the next train and go there? We didn’t have phones.’

Catherine recently had the movie reunion of our dreams as she joined in December.

The former child star was reduced to tears as his on-screen mom heaped praise on his efforts throughout his career.

‘Home Alone was, is and always will be a beloved global sensation,’ she declared. ‘The reason families all over the world can’t let a year go by without watching, and loving, Home Alone together is because of Macaulay Culkin.

‘It is Macaulay’s perfect performance as Kevin McCallister that gave us that little everyboy on an extraordinary adventure.

‘I know you worked really hard but you made acting look like the most natural thing in the world to do.’

‘He’s the dearest thing,’ she added, becoming emotional. ‘Macaulay, congratulations. You so deserve your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

‘Thank you for including me, your fake mom – who left you home alone not once but twice – to share in this happy occasion. I’m so proud of you.’
