Celine Dion hit with tragedy as family member dies in car crash

has suffered another family tragedy.

The 55-year-old’s niece, Brigitte Dion, has sadly died at age 51 after a car accident.

Brigitte – who was the daughter of Celine’s older brother Clément Dion – was Ki**ed in a head-on collision that occurred in the Canadian town of Saint-Thomas, Quebec on the evening of December 28, 2023, thereported.

The crash was said to have happened around 6:15 p.m. when a vehicle ended up going in the wrong direction.

Brigitte’s daughter, Kim Cantin Dion, took to to confirm her mother’s tragic death alongside multiple photos.

Her message included: ‘I can’t believe what I’m doing… the words… the pictures… I’m confused mom. Look how beautiful my mommy is. Cause you were my mom all to me. Just mine.’

The post added: ‘My mom was a little tired, but that wasn’t the reason she left. My mom wants us to remember the beautiful dynamite bomb she was.

‘Remember the bridge that makes sparks. Talk about my mom often. Make her live again, my mom. You’re still there mom. But otherwise. I love you mom.’

It’s been a difficult time for Celine, who shared – a rare neurological disease which causes severe spasms – in December 2022.

She also lost both her husband Rene Angelil, 73, and her brother, Daniel Dion, 59, in January 2016 after they both battled cancer.

Celine’s brother-in-law, Guy Poirier, then died in August 2016 after battling cancer, before she lost her dad, Adhémar Dion, in 2003 at age 80.

The latest tragedy comes just over a year after Celine opened up about her .

Speaking in a video at the time, she said: ‘Recently I’ve been diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called stiff-person syndrome which affects something like one in a million people.

‘While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what’s been causing all of the spasms that I’ve been having.

‘Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.

‘For me to reach you again I have no choice but to concentrate on my health at this moment and I have hope that I’m on the road to recovery. This is my focus and I’m doing everything I can to recuperate.’
