has opened up on her ‘incredible’ journey on , after becoming the first star to be sent home on the 2022 series.
The Loose Women star revealed what her first plans are now that she’s out of camp, including the ‘carbtastic’ meal she has planned, and who she’s rooting for to win the coveted jungle crown.
Last night, it was confirmed that , after the first public vote resulted in her being eliminated from the competition.
Her exit came shortly after she and took on a watery, critter-filled Bushtucker Trial, which saw the panicked ITV newsreader cut the challenge short when she told co-hosts and : ‘I’m a celebrity… get me out of here!’
Having taken two stars and therefore two meals back for camp, the group were treated to alpaca ribs for dinner, while Charlene tearfully expressed her disappointment in her performance to her close pal, Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver.
However, the journalist was assured she had plenty to be proud of, having conquered the plank trial on her very first day and spent difficult weeks away from her children.
When Charlene left camp, she was greeted on the bridge by her sister, with the pair sharing a tight embrace as the episode came to an end.
In a video released by the ITV1 show, the 42-year-old revealed that her first call would be to her partner Andy Woodfield, so she could check up on how her two kids have been in her absence.
Next up – her post-camp meal, which she promised would be ‘packed with carbs’.
‘Bread and butter, toast, chips, something that’s massively carbtastic,’ Charlene said, while also expressing her excitement over drinking water ‘that doesn’t taste of smoke’, adding about the smoke-tasting water she’d been consuming in camp: ‘Who knew that could be a thing?’
After discovering that she apparently smells after leaving the jungle, the presenter said she would ‘have a shower, then another shower, then a bath, then probably another shower’.
Despite Sue supposedly saying she doesn’t want to stay on I’m A Celebrity until the very end, Charlene revealed she wants to see the Corrie star crowned, while adding that if she were to describe her experience in one word, she’d choose: ‘Incredible.’
Yesterday’s episode also saw Charlene finally reveal her with former health secretary Matt Hancock, after they were granted the treat of sleeping on the indoor beds as part of their roles as leader and deputy leader of camp.
Having been accused of ‘breaking the rules’ – which – Charlene told Sue: ‘I’m an impartial journalist, I can’t be sharing a room with a sitting MP because that just doesn’t sit well with me impartiality-wise.’
I’m A Celebrity returns tonight at 9.10pm on ITV1.
