A string of TV shows have been axed in a huge killing spree, with Charmed, Dynasty and Roswell, New Mexico all cancelled.
The CW made a huge change to their upcoming schedules, pulling seven series from the guide in a move that was dubbed the ‘Red Wedding’ of TV.
According to reports, 4400, Naomi, Legacies and In The Dark were also scrapped by the network, with Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow previously announced to be ending.
Charmed first hit our screens in 2018, as a reboot of the hugely popular series from the 90s.
The program starred Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery, Lucy Barrett, Rupert Evans and Jordan Donica, and follows sisters Mel, Maggie and Macy, who have all got magical abilities as ‘charmed ones’, and are guided on how to use their powers by their Whitelighter Harry.
The official Charmed Writers Twitter account used the savage Game of Thrones reference as they cheered on their fellow shows which had been cut.
‘If we had to attend the CW’s Red Wedding, we’re at least honored to have been there with @4400writersroom, @LegaciesW, @TheCWNaomi, @CWInTheDark, @cw_dynasty , and @RoswellNMRoom,’ the message penned.
‘Plus our dear friends who went down at the Red Rehearsal Dinner: @BatwomanWriters and @LoTWritersRoom.’
Fans on social media were a mix of devastated for their favorite programs, and living for the shady post.
‘The red wedding reference!!!! OMG it’s been awhile but accurate,’ a follower commented.
‘This really was the red wedding of shows. Sucks when it’s killing off all the female fronted/diverse shows,’ one replied.
A Twitter user agreed: ‘Damn. Clever analogy though, even if it is painful.’
A viewer fumed: ‘I . AM. SPEECHLESS. What is wrong with this network right now???’
‘So many AMAZING shows with so many AMAZING stories to tell I can’t even DEAL right now brb I’m going to go cry in a corner now [sic].’
As another added: ‘The CW’s Red Wedding and Red Rehearsal Dinner But seriously what shows are left on CW?’
However, it’s not all bad news as The Flash, Riverdale, All American: Homecoming have all been renewed for now.
Bosses also have three pilots in the mix – Gotham Knights, Walker: Independence, and Supernatural prequel The Winchesters.
