Chloe Madeley on fears of not falling pregnant after struggling to conceive: ‘I was scared it wouldn’t happen for me’

Chloe Madeley revealed her fear that she wasn’t able to become pregnant, after conception issues.

Last month, the 34-year-old personal trainer revealed that she is pregnant with her first child, a baby girl, with husband , 38, following a two-year battle to conceive.

Speaking to , Chloe candidly discussed her battle to get pregnant, saying: ‘I find it quite amusing when people assume that all women, everywhere, want to be a mother, because it’s really complicated.’

After months of not using contraception, she explained that she was ‘nervous’ when she still wasn’t pregnant last spring.

She recalled: ‘We picked up the pace in terms of trying, and nervousness turned into fear.’

Chloe told the publication that she woke up in the middle of the night when the reality of the situation hit her ‘like a ton of bricks’.

The couple were not keen to go down the IVF route, which led to a ‘really sad’ few months.

When Chloe finally learned of her pregnancy, she simply couldn’t wait to tell her husband, who was away on work in Dubai at the time – and broke the happy news over the phone.

She also opened up about the mental health struggles that she went through during the period of her first trimester, likening it to having a hangover but ‘without any of the fun’.

Her anxiety wasn’t helped by a health scare when she reached the 14-week mark, after she had a sudden reprieve from symptoms, leaving her concerned.

This isn’t the first time Chloe has opened up about her struggle to conceive.

Responding to a , the star said she found it ‘hard’ when others around her announced their baby joy.

‘Well, I suppose there’s a few reasons why I’m not solely or constantly posting about being pregnant…,’ she said.

‘1. As wonderful as it is, there is actually a lot more to my life than the fact that I’m pregnant. Quite a lot more.’

‘I remember when I was trying, for 2 years, and it was hard watching everyone around me get pregnant.’
