has been forced to cancel the Late Show for a second week on doctor’s orders.

The host, who has presented the talk show for nearly 10 years, announced last week that he had suffered a ruptured appendix, and .

Sharing an update on his health, the 59-year-old confirmed that he in a bid to recover.

Taking to both Instagram and Threads, he penned: ‘I’m listening to my doctors and continuing to rest and heal.

‘Thank you for all your well wishes and I’ll see you soon. – Stephen.’

Right on cue, fans rushed to offer Stephen their support in the comments below, urging him to rest up.

‘Get well soon @colbertlateshow – you are a national treasure and we need you,’ a follower said.

Another agreed: ‘Your health is top priority. You’re a national treasure. Get well soon but take your time.’

One penned: ‘Your health and wellness is top priority, we will be waiting patiently for your return when you are better…’

‘Sending healing prayers. So sorry you’re going through this,’ a commenter shared. ‘Please take care of yourself and know we’ll be there to enthusiastically greet you when you are well enough to come back.’

As an Instagram user urged: ‘Continue to listen to your Doctors Stephen! It’s not a fun surgery. We will all be here when you’re better.’

According to Deadline, he was due to be joined on the episodes by a string of A-listers, including Sarah Paulson, Mark Ruffalo, Nicki Minaj – instead, CBS will now be airing a week of repeat episodes.

Stephen revealed his illness last week, explaining that he had previously gone under the knife for his appendix and was recovering from the surgery.

A burst – or ruptured – appendix can spread infection through the abdomen, which can be life-threatening in some cases.

The Mayo clinic states that the condition requires immediate surgery to remove the appendix and clean the abdominal cavity.

The recovery time is usually up to six weeks.

‘Sorry to say that I have to cancel our shows this week,’ the TV legend announced last week. ‘I’m sure you’re thinking, “Turkey overdose, Steve? Gravy boat capsize?”

‘Actually, I’m recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix.

‘I’m grateful to my doctors for their care and to Evie and the kids for putting up with me. Going forward, all emails to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas [sic].’
