has experienced the self-tanning mistake to end all self-tanning mistakes and it’s giving us serious noughties nostalgia.

The star, 37, took to Instagram to reveal she had decided to use a bottle of fake take that she first brought in 2004 – and the result is exactly what you’d expect.

Posting a selfie to Instagram, the Bafta-winning actress looked unrecognisable as she boasted a nice shade of mahogany as the tan developed.

Over the photo, in which she , she wrote: ‘Does fake tan expire?! How the f**k do I get this off?!.’

In the caption, she added: ‘Please help. The fake tan I used is 20 years old? No fake tan remover is working and lemon juice is not working. Tried nail varnish remover and that just burns.’

But that wasn’t the end of the saga, as shortly after she staring wistfully into the distance – maybe remembering a time before she found the beauty product – asking for more advice.

‘Does it look like it’s continuing to develop more brown then first pic or the same? (sic)’ she wrote.

A third update came and, , she has now started turning a much more unnatural colour thanks to an ill-fated removal technique.

Posting another selfie to her Instagram page, Daisy pointed out a bizarre green stain on her rapidly browning forehead after scrubbing at her skin with a dishwasher tablet.

‘Crushed up a dishwasher tablet into a paste and scrubbed forehead now its going green. Is that from dishwasher tab or tan developing????’ she wrote.

Fans were quick to offer pearls of wisdom in Daisy’s time of need, with @cl.over845 commenting: ‘Have you considered going the other way and trying to become a bodybuilder?’

@lalaletmeexplain added: ‘Ronseal wood varnish the rest of your body and your face will look pale in comparison.’

Reality TV star Charlotte Dawson offered to send Cooper some of her own fake tan remover, while Lisa Snowdon wrote: ‘Try oils, not engine oil but coconut oil or any aromatherapy oils to gentle break it down šŸ™šŸ¼.’

Her father Paul Cooper had a less positive approach, commenting ‘No, you’re f****d’ as the star asked if the blunder could be rectified.

@dnl1979 suggested: ‘Just move to Liverpool for a month until it wears off. No one will bat an eyelid there.’

Others compared Daisy to another TV icon, with @hotfoils joking: ‘All right David Dickinson how much for this here antique vase? šŸ˜‚’

Many got serious nostalgic vibes from the look, taking them back to a wondrous time filled with blue mascara, foundation lips, and Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse.

@jackeparrock wrote: ‘Thatā€™s not the age of the product, thatā€™s just the look we were going for back then šŸ˜‚.’

@___gemmasmith___ added: ‘Bit of blue mascara and some butterfly hair clips and it will be fine šŸ‘€.’

Plenty of suggestions have rolled in, from vodka to lemon juice – but we’re personal fans of leaning into the Grinch-inspired look and seeing how it all plays out.
