This weekwas for the upcoming season of the dancing series, which he’ll compete on with fellow famous faces including , Adam Thomas and Zara McDermott.

But soon after, trolls decided to do a little takeover of the TV presenter’s Wikipedia page, editing it to claim that he’s and is actually a horse.

Several screenshots of the entries have been captured and shared on social media, with one reading: ‘Leslie Dennis Heseltine (born 12 October 1953) is a purebred horse pretending to be an English television presenter, actor, and comedian.’

Another said he was a ‘television presenter, actor, comedian, and Race Horse’.

Despite some of the entries being taken down, the trolls were determined and kept trying their luck.

Many others took great delight in the light-hearted joke, with someone sharing on Twitter they were now concerned for how Les was going to handle taking to the dancefloor.

‘Will be interesting to see how a horse handles the Charleston or the Quick Step,’ they wrote.

‘Why is Les being saddled with these allegations,’ someone else shared.

But while BBC was waiting to announce the star as the last name for the Strictly line-up on Friday, Les had that he’d been polishing off his dancing shoes.

Explaining the blunder, Les confessed to Ben Shepherd on GMB: ‘What happened was, the Strictly producers asked me to send a playlist of songs you might like.

‘I’m totally hopeless with social media and all that so my daughter put my playlist together for me, and put “Strictly by Les Dennis”, so I could send it to my agent by email but I must have done a fat finger error and put it on Twitter instead.’

The playlist featured over 140 songs which Les said was a heavy mix of The Beatles, James Taylor and other ‘real old school’ music.

Metro.co.uk has contacted representatives for Les Dennis for comment.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC later this year.
