Before we go any further, is alive and well.

But thousands of fans had the fear of God struck in them when they briefly thought the official It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia accounts had .

The is from Taxi to One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest to Matilda and, for the past 18 years, in FX sitcom Sunny.

At the grand age of 79, Danny is as dedicated to the show as ever, and it shows no signs of stopping as it recently became the longest-running live-action sitcom ever.

Sunny fans adore Danny, and the team behind it does too — but their attempt to show some love for the actor with a simple post on Instagram sent fans into absolute panic mode.

The show’s official account shared a photograph of a smiling Danny to their page, and wrote: ‘THIS GUY.’

But for many, many people, before they read the caption they had assumed the worst.

User Ruaraidh Alexander spoke for everyone when he said: ‘Jesus Christ don’t do that,’ garnering over 7000 likes, while Chriswearsglasses got 5000 for his comment: ‘Anyone else get scared for a second?’

‘You just scared the hell out of millions of people,’ Steveklord scolded, while Saintwinona screamed ‘HOOOOOOO DON’T DO THAT.’

Juju_remix quoted an iconic episode of the show when she wrote ‘You guys were truly going for gasps with this post,’ and funeral.slay103 declared their ‘heart fell out of my arse for a second.’

And Rattlsnake_ aptly wrote: ‘Give me a f*****g heart attack.’

Danny has starred on the show alongside Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton, Charlie Day and Kaitlin Olson since 2006, and despite having an absolutely massive cult following, the show has failed to even be nominated for a single Emmy for its entire 16 seasons.

In January, the stars of the show appeared on stage at the Emmy Awards to hand out the trophy for outstanding talk series, where they joked about the fact they’ve been snubbed for close to 20 years now.

While on stage, Danny noted that he had previously won an Emmy for his stint on Taxi, and then randomly shouted out his estranged wife Rhea Perlman, saying she had won four Emmys for her time on Cheers.

The couple went their separate ways in 2017, decades after marrying in 1982, but remain close friends and have said they have no intention of divorcing.

Rhea and Danny famously starred together as husband and wife in Matilda, and she also made a special guest appearance in season 16 of Sunny.
