There are wedding gifts, and then there are wedding gifts, with David Beckham giving his son Brooklyn and his new wife Nicola Peltz a £350,000 electric Jaguar after .
Brooklyn, 23, and his bride, 27, were on Sunday after the lavish nuptials, which saw the lovebirds wed on Nicola’s family estate in Palm Beach, Florida, in what has been reported as a £3million (£2.3m) wedding.
And keeping in the apparent theme of ‘money’, it’s emerged football legend David presented his son Brooklyn and new daughter-in-law with an electric Jaguar XK140 to commemorate the celebrations.
On Sunday, Brooklyn and Nicola were seen arriving in a gorgeous classic car with the bride seen in the passenger seat, with her blonde hair tied up with a white ribbon, and budding chef Brooklyn looking dapper in a cream sweater, donning black glasses to protect his eyes from the Florida sunshine.
Built by Lunaz – a company that David is an investor in – the electric XK140 was created by the firm’s 120 person-strong team at its headquarters in Silverstone.
Fully restored and based on an existing XK140, if you’re into cars, each Lunaz model benefits from uprated brakes suspension and steering (which can only be a good thing, we assume), while the dials and switches have the look and feel of originals but have been updated to relay key information such as remaining charge levels.
Only the best for these kids.
David Lorenz, founder and CEO of Lunaz, said of the quite remarkable present: ‘In creating this beautiful, electrified Jaguar XK140, we are honoured to bridge the gap between David Beckham’s professional life, where he is an investor in Lunaz and his family life.
‘This remarkable car is the perfect gift to his son Brooklyn and daughter-in-law, Nicola on their wedding day. In every respect, this extraordinary electric classic car by Lunaz symbolises a bright, positive future.’
Each car costs £350,000 plus local taxes and waiting lists currently extend to January 2024, so we can only hope Brooklyn and Nicola said thank you.
This particular 1954 XK140 has been finished in a light blue colour, with every Lunaz customer given the opportunity to name their own unique colour. However, the name for this particular shade will be kept confidential ‘at the client’s request’, according to Lunaz.
Brooklyn married his US actress fiance on April 9, in a no-expense-sparred ceremony, with guests including Venus and Serena Williams and Eva Longoria.
Details have emerged from the event, with reports dad David got all teary sharing a speech during the reception, while the bride floated down the aisle on the arm of her father, Nelson Peltz, to the sound of a live rendition of Songbird from UK artist Sekou, before Brooklyn and Nicola shared their first dance to Only Fools Rush In.
