‘He used to bring Lego sets to England. He would go into his room and just do Lego all night,’ Ben explained.
He continued telling on the sports star: ‘It would proper chill him out. He would just sit there, do his Lego set, have a nice time. Lovely.’
The footballer was chatting about his days with England while recording an episode of his own show .
Not the first time the football legend has been linked to Lego, in 2017 he posed beside a huge Disney castle he had built for his – who he shares with his wife, Victoria.
David has also been known to complete projects including a Lego Land Rover, a London bus and a Millennium Falcon.
The star was even gifted a box of the Danish building blocks while appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel show.
He said of his love for the children’s toy at the time: ‘It’s before I had kids, I grew up making Lego when I was eight or nine years old.
‘Actually I continue it and Victoria always laughs at me, she’ll come down at like two o’clock in the morning and I’ll be trying to finish a piece off.
‘She posted something the other day and I think she said because it was like 11 years and above, she was like: “Really? You are still up at two o’clock in the morning doing 11 years and above LEGO?”’
Elsewhere in the chat the 40-year-old sportsman praised the former player for his skill on the field and admitted he was a ‘goalie’s nightmare’.
Ben explained: ‘He really was like balls into the box, whether he shooted from that free kick or he’s whipping it across the face of the goal.’
Despite acknowledging his talent, the star revealed David wasn’t one of the standout players during training sessions while kicking the ball for England.
He said: ‘That weren’t his game, he would be the master of putting that ball in that corridor of uncertainty. It would be ridiculous.’
