David Tennant has intriguing response to rumours he’s returning to Doctor Who

has finally responded to all those to .

The actor, 51, appeared at German Comic-Con in Dortmund this week for an interview and audience Q&A, and there was one question he was guaranteed to be asked.

Since the news broke last year that would be, all bets are on as to as her Doctor regenerates.

And with returning as showrunner, one new favorite to play The Doctor is, well… The Doctor: David, of course, played the Tenth Doctor under Russell’s tenure, with both of them departing at the same time.

‘I’ve heard something,’ the Comic-Con segment presenter began – and so big was the elephant in the room that everyone knew what he was talking about.

In a video uploaded to by an attendee, the presenter said a ‘little birdy’ told him that Davies was planning on bringing David back to Doctor Who with him.

To which David responded: ‘Was that little birdy the internet?’

He went on: ‘The thing about this is, I’ve been asked a version of this question for the last 20 years.

‘I’ve learned, through bitter experience, that there’s no point even answering it. Because whatever I say is spun by whoever wants to hear it.

‘There’s no point in me denying it, there’s no point in me confirming it,’ he went on.

‘Whatever I say will become whatever the internet wants it to be.’

He added, after a short pause: ‘It would be quite a weird idea. It’s not something that you would necessarily expect from Doctor Who.’

‘I’m not going to try giving any more than that – what’s the point?!’

So what we’re hearing is, he is definitely coming back for another five or six series. Oh, and Rose Tyler is coming too.

13th Doctor Jodie is set to bow out from the role this autumn after one final epic battle against the Daleks, Cybermen and The Master – the first time all three have appeared in one story.

The feature-length BBC Centenary special will see the Doctor team up with past friends, with at least two former companions set to return.

Janet Fielding as Tegan Jovanka – companion to both the fourth and fifth Doctors – and Sophie Aldred as Ace – companion to the Seventh Doctor, will reprise their roles on screen for the first time since leaving the show in the 1980s.

Also confirmed to be taking to the screen for the Doctor’s epic battle for survival are Vinder (Jacob Anderson) and Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave).
