Deborra-Lee Furness has been pictured out in New York City after addressing the persistent rumours .
The Australian actress, who’s been married to Hugh since 1996, was spotted walking her with her daughter Ava, 15.
The pair looked casual and wrapped up for the chilly weather as they headed for their evening stroll, each holding a dog on a lead.
Deborra, 66, and Hugh, 53, also share their older son Oscar, 20.
Despite being happily married for more than two decades, throughout their marriage, they’ve been , which the star reportedly previously suggested emerged around the time he played openly gay singer-songwriter Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz on Broadway in 2003.
Addressing the speculation this week, Deborra said celebrities seemed to be ‘open slather’ for negative things to be said about them, before adding there’s no reason for Wolverine star Hugh to remain in the closet if he was gay.
She said: ‘Hugh’s been gay for whatever, I mean, hello guys – if he was gay, he could be gay!’
Speaking on the podcast she went on: ‘He didn’t have to hide in the closet anymore, and he’d be dating Brad Pitt, or whatever. Not that Brad’s gay, but you know what I’m saying!’
She continued, saying the pair ‘don’t read a lot of that stuff’: ‘It’s so silly, and then people perpetuate silly things and it’s boring.’
Deborra previously branded the rumours ‘made-up’ and ‘mean-spirited’.
During an appearance on Anh’s Brush With Fame, she joked: ‘He’s been gay so many years. I was gay too. You know when I did Shame? I was gay. They were shocked when I got married.’
The star went on: ‘It’s just wrong. It’s like someone saying to Elton John: “He’s straight.” I’m sure he’d be pissed. And so what! What are we discussing here… Is he a vegetarian… Is he gay?’
Meanwhile, Hugh has , saying: ‘I knew very early, I knew before Deb knew, even when she tried to break up with me, I knew [she was the one].
‘She kind of [broke up with me], a little bit. Early on, three weeks in. I managed to talk her out of it, thank God. I’m a very indecisive person, Deb really knows this about me.
‘I can count on my hand the amount of times in my life anything has felt that clear to me, and when it happens it’s such a relief for me.
‘I just knew 100 percent, I even knew when she was trying to work out reasons to break up with me.’
Deborra met Hugh on the set of the Australian TV show Correlli in 1995, with the couple tying the knot the following year.
