stars have been separated from the real world for over a month, as they attempt to find a romantic connection.

Going off the grid in pursuit of a soulmate involves some sacrifices. Each contestant must give up their , which means no calls to their mum to verify their thoughts on potential partners, a complete blackout on , and perhaps worst of all, not being able to read Metro.co.uk.

Their disconnect from what is going on means that they won’t be getting the same news that is unavoidable for the rest of the country.

It’s been a pretty eventful few days to say the least with a new prime minister moving into 10 and the England football team’s Euro success, but they could be none the wiser.

‘So weird that none of the people in Love Island know we’re in the Euros final nor that we have a Labour PM,’ marvelled Amy Fenson.

‘Wait these islanders don’t even know we have a Labour government and we are in the Euro finals that’s so crazy,’ added Blackberry babe, with the sentiment liked by over 11,000 people. ‘They’ve missed so much tea.’

While it’s true ITV do try to keep their cast away from outside influences, will they be making exceptions? Let’s take a look…

Will Love Island stars watch the Euros 2024 final?

After a nail-biting semi-final between England and Netherlands, Gareth Southgate’s team have progressed to the top two after wonder.

England will be taking on Spain, and if they are victorious it will be the England men’s team lift their first trophy since the World Cup in 1966. (The England Lionesses of course won the Euros in 2022).

Finding the person you want to spend forever with is important for a lot of people, but some would argue witnessing such a historic event is of equal gravitas.

When contacted for comment by Metro, a representative for Love Island said: ‘Confirming we will be doing something around the euros for Sunday, the islanders will be watching. It’s likely there will be a nod to it in the show or aftersun at some point either Sunday or Monday. More details to follow.’

Looks like the viewing party will go both ways, as the in a weird turn of events.

This follows a precedent set in 2021, last time the England men’s team reached the Euro finals, and faced Italy, when the match was also played in the villa.

Chloe Burrows was sent a text, which she read out to her co-stars. ‘Tonight you will be able to watch the England football team play Italy in the final of the European Championship!’ she said. The excitement for the special treat led to Jake Cornish and Toby Aromolaran jumping excitedly into the pool.

However, their happiness turned to disappointment, when the game was lost. Fingers crossed it’s a different ending when the final is once again shown in the villa.

Does the villa know about our new prime minister?

On July 5, after 14 years of a conservative government, there was  for the Labour Party. Rishi Sunak lost his job as prime minister and has now been replaced by Sir Kir Starmer.

While MPs up and down the country campaigned for our votes, Joey Essex was romancing three different women, and Sean Stone has been comparing everyone who comes within 5 feet of him to a sweet. But when they took a break from charming the ladies, how informed have they been on the major political changes?

The general election was announced on May 22, and the first episode of Love Island didn’t air until June 3 suggesting that the cast would have been aware, and would have had the chance to submit a request for a postal vote. However, it should be noted that contestants go into a pre-villa lockdown at a hotel so may have already been separated from their phones.

Although, they are not informed of the day and time in the villa, if they knew about the general election, or the bombshells or Casa Amor arrivals informed them, then it’s likely they may ask members of staff on production for answers.

Metro.co.uk has contacted ITV for further clarification.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
