has weighed in on ’s intense touring schedule after with a serious bacterial infection.

Madonna, 64, has put her Celebration Tour on hold after being found unresponsive and enduring a stay in intensive care.

She was due to kick off her 40th-anniversary shows on Saturday, July 15, visiting arenas across before coming to Europe and the UK later this year.

Sharing her thoughts, country music legend Dolly, 77, explained that she has always found touring ‘taxing’, hence why she no longer goes out on the road for extended periods of time.

Speaking at a press event to promote and her upcoming memoir Behind The Seams: My Life in Rhinestones, Dolly admitted that getting older makes it harder for artists to tour and churn out albums.

In quotes obtained by , she said: ‘It’s always been taxing, the reason I don’t tour now is because I don’t want to be that far away from home, we’re getting older and I’ve got a lot of business that I do and the movies that I do.

‘So we’re close to home and I just really do prepare, just like coming over for this, we had a band and before I had to cancel once – my husband was sick at the time but he’s fine now but you do plan and I do not plan to tour at this time.’

The Jolene vocalist last toured in 2016 with her Pure and Simple Tour, which saw her perform in more than 60 cities in the US and Canada.

After Madonna’s own fitness regime Dolly confessed she’s not a gymgoer.

‘I hate exercise like I hated school, I do all my hard work now, but I try and diet the best I can and I do the low carb but if I see something I really want I’m gonna eat it,’ she said, in perhaps the most relatable quote of the year.
